After posting the last article on the selling of live soft shell turtle in supermarket, I went out to find out more about how these animals are being sold. From the auntie and uncle sources that I have, the animal are live when bought. You won’t have to bring home the live animal though. The folks at the supermarket will process it on the customer’s behalf. Apparently they told customers that it’s a gruesome sight, so all the processing is done out of the customer’s view. I was also told that the turtles are popular and they get sold out fast.
Well, it’s not the first time I have seen live turtles being sold, it’s just that I haven’t seen it in supermarket. As a matter of fact, I have not seen live turtle etc being sold in the market for a long time already. I remember that this was actually a common sight in Chinatown when I was very young (Like 20 years back). Just surprised by it’s reapperance in the supermarket.
