A Little Too Soon? A Little Too Late?

My wife found this video while surfing around and watching videos on YouTube. This was her new found hobby of searching baby related videos ever since she got pregnant.

She showed me this video last night, telling a story of a woman delivering her child prematurely so that the child’s dying father could have a moment with the new born before he passed away.

This is thought provoking.

A little too soon for the father to leave this world. He would not have the chance to accompany this child as he or she grows up.

A little too late for the baby to arrive. The child would not have a loving father side by side in the growing up process.

Just in time for the father to hold his child before he leaves.

When’s the right time? Too soon? Too late? Or just in time?

An award winning clip on Alzheimer’s Disease

This is a locally produced clip that has won the 1st prize in the Alzheimer’s Disease International conference.

It’s a reminder for us to look out for the old folks at home. Early symptoms are often neglected, which leads to fast deterioration in the later stage.

The early symptoms of Alzheimer or dementia are,

Memory Loss
Difficulty in performing familiar tasks, like in the video, the old lady can’t button her blouse properly.
Problems with language
Disorientation to time and place
Poor or decreased judgement
Problems with keeping track of things
Misplacing things
Changes in mood or behaviour
Changes in personality
Loss of initiative
  1. Memory Loss
  2. Difficulty in performing familiar tasks.

While early treatment does not completely cure dementia, it helps to alleviate the symptoms and difficulties for the patient.

A beautiful video about relationships – “Funeral”

I think this video is beautiful and I gotta share this with everyone first thing in the morning.

This is the introduction of the video.

“Funeral” is a new TV commerical launched by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) which looks at relationships in a different light, through a woman at her husband’s funeral. Ultimately, the TVC celebrates the beautiful imperfections that make a relationship perfect. This is fresh off MCYS latest Viewers’ Choice 2008 win for last year’s Family TVC which promotes the importance and value of family bonding.

Personally, the video struck me very hard deep inside. This is a reminder, to treasure the people around you. Look at the greater virtues they have rather than to pick on the smaller shortcomings. Once in a while, imagine a life without the people you love when you wake up the next morning. Think of what you have lost and what you will miss most about the person and keep the feeling vivid in your heart. Revisit this feeling whenever you have grouses or arguments.

Enjoy the video, give it some thought and share with the people you love and care for.
