I Love Living Life. I Am Happy

This is a video that my friend shared with me via email. I thought I should share this in my blog for a wider reach.

I think it’s remarkable for a person like Nick Vujicic to be so positive. If this guy can live life happily, I don’t see why we can’t do it as well. I’m not saying that we are all having a fantastic time. We can still grumble and bitch about life, cry or get depressed when we run into problems in life. But the key thing is, remember to pick yourself up after that.

Life can’t get any worse for us. :)

Why every guy should buy his wife/gf Wii Fit

I think some of you might have seen this title on YouTube before. And also, the video of the girlfriend playing Wii Fit in undies.

Well..today, I tell my story of why I should have bought my wife Wii Fit long ago. No…no..no, she doesn’t wiggle her butts in her undies. It’s better than that.

We got home, she started playing, got carried away, got really tired and goes to bed after shower.

Wow..I don’t need this to happen everyday, just 2 days a week will do. She can’t complain that I sleep with my Macbook anymore. Now she has her Wii Fit…

A walk through Pasir Ris Boardwalk – Parental Advise Needed

11042009584.jpgIt was meant to be walk through the boardwalk at Pasir Ris this evening. As you can see, NParks has constructed pathway into the mangrove swamp. NPark’s intention was for the public to see the myriad of inhabitants in the swamp area.

And yes, I did see alot of crabs, goby and birds. I also managed to snap quite a few pictures. But I had another discovery. At every corner when there’s a pavilion, there’s always a couple chit chatting.

I’m pretty sure they were chatting, at least when I got closer, they appeared to be doing so.

And there’s also this tower for bird viewing. And no surprises, there were 2 more couples up there, and yes…chatting. This is a fabulous place for studying the birds, and probably the bees too? I do hope they don’t get mosquito bites at obscure spots though.

So parents who bring their kids to the boardwalk, parental guidance is strongly advised on educating the children on the eco system and primate behaviours.

Anyway I will be posting photos of the walk another day. The walk was not anticipated so I only managed to snap pictures with my N95. The shots were not ideal for showing here.

I’ll be back!

Homegrown vegetables @ Sunggei Tenggah

I was at Bukit Batok on Friday morning, so I thought I dropped by the vegetable farm at Sunggei Tenggah. I’m not sure if this place is well known, but I have been there several times. The scale of the farm is pretty big and their vegetables are fresh and tasty. Prices are slightly higher than the Malaysian imports in the market, but if you have seen and tasted the vegetable for yourself, you would agree that it’s value for money. I came back home with a a kilogram each of a few vegetables.

The farm is also open for visits, where you can view their vegetable plots. It’s education for children and adult alike. I believe a big bunch of the population under 35 have not lived in kampung before. This is perhaps the next best thing to kampung experience.

This is the name and location of the farm.

A beautiful video about relationships – “Funeral”

I think this video is beautiful and I gotta share this with everyone first thing in the morning.

This is the introduction of the video.

“Funeral” is a new TV commerical launched by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) which looks at relationships in a different light, through a woman at her husband’s funeral. Ultimately, the TVC celebrates the beautiful imperfections that make a relationship perfect. This is fresh off MCYS latest Viewers’ Choice 2008 win for last year’s Family TVC which promotes the importance and value of family bonding.

Personally, the video struck me very hard deep inside. This is a reminder, to treasure the people around you. Look at the greater virtues they have rather than to pick on the smaller shortcomings. Once in a while, imagine a life without the people you love when you wake up the next morning. Think of what you have lost and what you will miss most about the person and keep the feeling vivid in your heart. Revisit this feeling whenever you have grouses or arguments.

Enjoy the video, give it some thought and share with the people you love and care for.

Update – Live soft shell turtle for sale in supermarket

After posting the last article on the selling of live soft shell turtle in supermarket, I went out to find out more about how these animals are being sold. From the auntie and uncle sources that I have, the animal are live when bought. You won’t have to bring home the live animal though. The folks at the supermarket will process it on the customer’s behalf. Apparently they told customers that it’s a gruesome sight, so all the processing is done out of the customer’s view. I was also told that the turtles are popular and they get sold out fast.

Well, it’s not the first time I have seen live turtles being sold, it’s just that I haven’t seen it in supermarket. As a matter of fact, I have not seen live turtle etc being sold in the market for a long time already. I remember that this was actually a common sight in Chinatown when I was very young (Like 20 years back). Just surprised by it’s reapperance in the supermarket.

MLM/Insurance harvesting on Monster.com?

Has anyone received calls from insurance company or even MLM companies after you have posted your profile on Monster.com? Ever since I posted my profile on Monster.com few weeks back, I started to get such calls, offering me jobs as financial advisors and one call possibily from a MLM company. I later realised it was my oversight that I allowed more than required access to my information.

But that aside, my point is that it just doesn’t feel too right (ethical issue) for these guys to go scouring Monster.com for their candidates. Even for the insurance companies, my profile state explicitly that I’m in the Telco industry and I wish to be contacted for jobs in this field. It’s just some thoughts. I have since narrowed down my profile to mere neccessity for potential employers to find me.

綜藝 Go Live! Huh?

Did you guys just watch the variety show that just ended on Channel 8? After sitting infront of the TV for 1 hour, the final reaction was ‘huh?’

Huh? Huh? and Huh? WTF? Wow, I thought it couldn’t get any worse. Can I have a refund for my yearly TV license? or maybe just a rebate. It’s going to make me feel better.

Live soft shell turtle for sale..In supermarket

Advertisement from the papers again. I’m very surprised to see this. I mean, we see live prawns, live fish, live crabs, but this is the first time I see supermarkets selling live turtle. Not that I’m an animal lover, but I’m curious how anyone who buys this processes this live turtle. Must be a gruesome sight.

And if the animals are not sold within a day, how do they keep it alive?

Hmmm……

Anyone seen this at the supermarket that gives money away?

Why run Linux on Mac?

Saw this advertisement for Mac in the Straits Times today. I wonder why they want to market the Mac as a machine that runs Linux.

I’m both a Mac and Linux user. (Long time Linux user and 1 yr old Mac convert). And in my opinion, I won’t want to buy a Macbook and run Linux. I bought Mac because of OS X. OS X is Unix based and has the GNU tools that I need for work and stuff. In a certain way using OS X is equivalent to using any of the *nix operating system. The sweet spot is Apple has a wonderful interface over BSD. It replaces 90% or more of the tools that I’m using on Linux, so why would I be interested in running Linux on a Mac? I don’t need to pay a premium to run Linux. I’m still running my Linux, but on my 800 bucks Acer laptop. It works.
